My next camera was a 35mm Minolta X-G7.  I became seriously interested in shooting portraits with my x-G7.  I would drag family and friends in front of my camera, positioning them next to a bright lamp, streetlight, or directly in the sun!  I still have this camera!  It is in perfect working order!
Some time during the early 2000′s, I switched to shooting with a digital camera.  I shot in the “P” mode and most of my subjects looked good, except the ‘red eye’ from the built in flash!!  When Canon introduced the 5D, I was amazed by the beautiful imagery and ability to shoot in low light!  I started my business with the Canon 5D.  My business grew (thank you!!) and when the Canon 5d MK II was available, I added it to inventory!  I am now shooting with the Canon 5D MK III and cannot wait for the next version!  The colors, contrast, spot on focusing and low light capabilities make this camera a dream to use!

In 2011 I stumbled upon a film shooter, his name is Jonathan Canlas.  If you are interested in portrait photography, Jon is a master at capturing real moments for families!  His personality is larger than life; funny, smart, deliberate, sweet and super talented.  As I mentioned in a previous post, I attended Jon’s ‘Film is not Dead’ workshop.  Shooting with the Contax 645 is a zen experience!  Shooting film slows down the process of making a portrait.  Film produces soft, beautiful colors, you cannot achieve with a digital camera.  The Contax 645 is heavy, it is a dream to hold and I am happy when it is in my hands!  Below are some images from I shot while with the beast:
